Redlands RSL Library PDF Print E-mail

Saturday 28th July 2007 saw the opening of the Redlands RSL Library and Museum by  Phil Weightman MP Member for Cleveland. Also present at the time  were the Hon. Mal Brough MP Federal Minister for families community services & indigenous affairs, Andrew Laming MP Member for Bowman, Michael Choy MP Member for Capalaba, John English MP Member for Redlands, Cr. Don Seccombe Redlands Shire Mayor and President of Redlands RSL Mr. Brad Gray.Redlands_RSL_Museum6.jpg.JPG.jpg

The Library / Museum was made possible by a grant from the Queensland Government Gaming Community Benefit Fund and as a result will benefit the Redlands Community. The grant was a joint venture between Redlands RSL and the Vietnam Veterans Group of Redlands to manage the Grant of $30,000.00 in order to develop a Library / Museum.The funding provided bookcases, memorabilia display cabinets, glass secure display cases, display cabinet lighting, carpeting for sound proofing the facility, multimedia unit and computers to provide school students and the community access to conflict history era’s via links to the Library and the Museum.Redlands_RSL_Museum1.jpg.jpg

The aim of the Library / Museum is to provide a relaxing atmosphere for Veterans and Ex Servicemen and Women in which they can read the many books available or view the multi media DVD and Videos that are also provided.  The facility is available to local schools enabling students to carry out research on Military history of Redlands_RSL_Museum2.jpg.jpgAustralia and Allied Forces and to view memorabilia and documents that have been accumulated over the years by veterans and the community.The Library / Museum building is also home to the Veterans and Ex Servicemen and Woman’s Community and the Office of the Veterans Pension and Welfare Officers. Library / Museum Hours are 9 a.m. to 5p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 9 am to 2 pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. 

Redlands RSL thank the dedicated volunteers of the Vietnam Veterans, National Serviceman and lady supporters and Redlands RSL Woman’s Auxiliary members who have worked tirelessly over the past Ten months to assist in the construction of this fine facility.                                                                                                                  Redlands_RSL_Museum6.jpg.jpg
